Most patients experience minimal discomfort after surgery. Swelling and bruising subside within 1 to 2 weeks. Stitches are usually removed or begin to dissolve within 5 to 7 days. Full healing occurs within a few weeks.

There are several procedures that can be used to improve the eyelid position; sometimes when combined, specific insurance plans may not cover both at the same time although they should be done simultaneously to address the multifactorial cause of the eyelid malposition.
